I already got my 100% without any of the arenas (not even Ascalon), but I know that while I was trying to get the last few percent I would have signed this.

I got 100% Tyria GMC on another character, this time without exploring the extra part of Dunes of Despair, and without mapping most of Skyward Reach or the area outside of Thirsty River. This was also a Canthan character, so no way I could have gotten the arenas.

Again, there is a *ton* of leeway. If you're getting stuck at 9x.x%, you are not being thorough, end of discussion.

Freeked, you continue to fail to understand that you cannot know whether you explored every corner of the map. Just because you thought you scraped every edge doesn't mean you got every tiny bit.

/notsigned - since it's still possible to get Tyria GMC w/out them.

I've had Tyrian GMC for a while, but without ever having fought on any of the arena maps and only being to one arena outpost that's closed now. And I still find tiny bits uncover in Tyria that I didn't have when my title first said 100%

There's a good deal of leeway on Tryia to get GMC w/out the arenas. 100% according to the title is really probably closer to 97-98% of the actual, total, possible-at-some-time uncovered map. I'd guess it's closer to 98-99 in Cantha and Elona.

You can ask for map-comparison help here on guru from the very nice people that monitor that thread.

There are various places around the web with GMC complete maps if you'd rather compare yourself. I made this post on another site with general and area-specific tips and screenies of my map to help friends get it, and the site admin there was kind enough to make it public.

IMO, Tyria GMC is the hardest to get. I have all three, and Tyria GMC is still the title I'm most proud of.

Good luck!

You know what why dont they just open those Arenas as outposts/explorable areas and maybe add a quest or two to each one? Also maybe the Dorknars Arena could just be added as an expansion on to Drok's (like the Shing Jeas Monastary Boardwalk.)

True, I might not know EVERY part of the map, and I MAY have missed bits.

But considering that EVERY single 100% map which ive looked at, has EXACTLY the same locations uncovered.

Im going to say its a safe bet that if the MAJORITY of people, whom ive spoken to, have found all the EXACT same places as myself, thent their isnt anywhere else to explore in Tyria which is accessible.

Unless your suggesting that every single other Tyrian born player Ive ever spoken to, who has 100%, have ALL missed the same exact spots?

Every last single one of them?

But if the character is Canthan born, then your arguement about Skyward Reach and DoD is void.

Its quite obvious that a canthan born character doesnt need to explore as much of the map as a Tyrian born character. Especially if you didnt need the DoD section and Skyward Reach.

So that doesnt mean that a TYRIAN born character doesnt need those locations. Which they obviously do as I still have Necro sitting in Tyria with 90% who ONLY needs Skyward Reach.

I know that, because ive compared his map to my own and to the other dozen or so maps ive got.

But like you say; It may be that myself and these dozens of other Tyrian players are wrong.

But going by your logic, if I my Necro doesnt need Skyward Reach!

Where does he need?

Because your suggesting that somehow, I must have missed a completely different location in Tyria which holds about 10% of the map.

And 10% is a farly large chunk in Tyria. It would be almost an entire new island, if you consider the size of Skyward Reach.

Your logic against Tyrian born players just doesnt make sense, unless Anet has made a change to it.

But they obviously havent since I still have a Necro in Tyria who is at 90% and has exactly the same places as me, except for Skyward Reach.

Conclusion:

Tyrian born players need Skyward Reach, DoD and other parts.

Non-Tyrian players obviously have more leeway and dont (Perhaps because of the obvious fact that their able to explore a section south of LA).

They added roughly a 4% margin to Tyria. Those who already explored those areas can max out their title slightly more easily, but it is still possible for other players to achieve 100%.

Tyrian's can get in that area to the SE of LA now, too. (I think it's where the arena outpost used to be.) Talk to the guard at the gate there, up past storage hill on the way to the lighthouse. The area is an accessible-to-all explorable area now, used in the quests for Tyrian characters to first get to Elona. It counts, sure, but I can't believe it accounts for 10% of the Tyrian map. Uncovering one the average size Tyrian explorable areas has always seemed to net around 2-3% on the mapping title track.

I've seen a lot of 100% maps, and they were not complete. Many people have even posted 100% maps saying, "I know I'm missing a few spots, but I'm too lazy to go back and clear them, since I have the title anyway".

This is exactly what I think. Look at all of the threads full of people who can't get GMC in Tyria, Cantha, and Elona. I've never had problems with GMC - I got all of them on the first try, on two different characters, and I've always had uncovered spots left over. Not once have I barely made it - I always made it with plenty to spare. Are you going to say that a Canthan character has mapping advantages on all three continents? The fact that GMC help threads even exist is an indication that the vast majority of players here can't be trusted to have a complete map - they're just barely scraping out 100% after all that map comparisons, when we know for a fact that there's leeway on all 3 maps.

Again, the argument here is not that I am l33tsauce at mapping - the argument is that the majority people simply are not thorough, and their maps therefore cannot be trusted.

So in conclusion: Yes, I believe that you, and the majority of the players you talked to, are wrong.
